Students entering school in Castle Rock School District are enrolled at the school building where they will be attending. The schools open for enrollment of new students generally during the last two weeks of August. The enrollment process involves completing a registration form and testing for student placement. Fees or costs required for the student’s coursework are payable after classes begin.
New students entering after the start of the school year will begin attending classes within one to three days after registration is completed, in order to allow teachers time to prepare for placement of the new student.
It is helpful to bring previous school report cards and any other records you may have from your child’s previous school. The administrative office will request any additional records needed from the student’s previous school or district.

Children enrolling in Kindergarten at Castle Rock School District must be five years old by August 31. Open enrollment for the next school year is held on single day each spring at the elementary school, during which children are screened for kindergarten readiness and registered for school. If you miss the open enrollment day, you may schedule a time for your child to be screened for kindergarten readiness and registered for school.
To schedule a screening, please call Shawna in the elementary school office at 501-2910, or email sguest@crschools.org. Heather Ogden will conduct the pre-kindergarten screening. Shawna or Heather will be happy to answer any questions you have about your child’s kindergarten registration or readiness.
Please bring your child’s up to date birth certificate and immunization record to the screening appointment.
